Joe Jack et John was founded in 2003, by Catherine Bourgeois and Amélie Dumoulin, and with the help of Julie Rousse. Their goal is to create socially relevant and avant-garde theatre, exploring boundaries between theatre and performance art. The company’s mandate focuses on challenging the notion of casting by including diverse actors from various backgrounds. The aim behind this choice is to take unusual paths creating the effect of strangeness necessary for reflexion and poetry. Joe Jack et John opts for a theatre of creation and collaborative writing with actors and designers.
The year 2009 marked a transition for the company: Amelie passed the torch of co-direction to Jean-Pascal Fournier, a long time collaborator.
2004: Quand j'étais un animal (Manuel de taxidermie)
2005: Ce soir l’Amérique prend son bain
2006: Go shopping [et fais le mort]
2007: Go shopping... on tour
2008: Mimi - Creation-in-progress
2009: Mimi - ze show!
2010: Sous mes pieds, une tête
Joe Jack et John is not for profit, but would like to be more profitable. However, the company is a member of A.C.T. (Association des compagnies de théâtre) and has a prestigious charity number -interested?
