Just fake it
Four castaways from our world of appearances invite you to question our prevailing notion of happiness, a mirage atop a mountain of false pretenses. A beginner swimmer. A portable car shelter. Inflatable dogs. “Made-in-China” can openers … This colourful, disturbing, and hilarious performance blends dance, theatre and air guitar.
It seems like happiness: it fizzes like Coke and it smells sweet.
It rises to the eyes: it makes tears fall.
It seems like happiness, but it’s not.
We have everything we need to be happy, but we’re not.
There’s only one way left to make it: fake it!
Premiered on October 14, 2011 at Théâtre Aux Écuries, Montreal.
